Frequently Asked Questions

Learn everything you need to know to attend the 2018 Global Roundup Conference and prepare to join us this summer in Austin, Texas.
What is the Global Roundup?

The Global Roundup is an international entrepreneurship conference for 3 Day Startup alumni and other members of the startup community. It’s an opportunity to meet other inspired, brilliant people and learn about how to take your startup to the next level.

I've never participated in a 3 Day Startup program. Can I still attend?

Absolutely! We encourage anyone with an interest in entrepreneurship to join the Global Roundup. This includes professionals, students of all stripes (high school to PhDs), educators at all levels, and everyone in between.

Where does the Global Roundup take place?

Austin’s center of gravity for entrepreneurship, Capital Factory! One of Google’s tech hubs for entrepreneurs, Capital Factory is a coworking space and an accelerator in the heart of downtown Austin. The conference takes place in their new 1st floor event space

Is it possible to have my trip subsidized?

Not by 3 Day Startup; however, many universities have funding available for student entrepreneurs to attend startup conferences and pitch competitions. Contact the dean of your university department to see if funding is an option for you.

Otherwise, you may try crowdfunding your trip. One of our previous attendees can tell you how.

Where should I stay?

There are lots of great options in the heart of downtown Austin, but you’ll want to book your bed as soon as you can. Some suggestions:

  • Cheap: Firehouse youth hostel is right across the street. Native hostel is also within walking distance.
  • Moderate: Airbnb has great rooms around Austin. You can even stay in an old, vintage airstream.
  • Fancy: The Hilton and Driskill are nearby, and the Omni is in the same building as the conference.
Are tickets refundable?

Tickets are not refundable, but you can transfer them to someone else.

Are meals included?

Yes! Breakfast and lunch are provided on Saturday and Sunday, as well as dinner on Saturday. You’re responsible for your own meals on Friday.

What’s the format of the conference?

Great question; this isn’t your standard, boring, sit in sessions all day conference. We kick things off with a happy hour for people to begin meeting each other at our favorite neighborhood coffee (and beer) spot, Cuvee Coffee. On Saturday, an energetic keynote speaker opens things up and the day continues with a mix of panels, speakers, and interactive workshops, with a lot of opportunities for networking with experts and other attendees.

On Saturday evening, we host a parody of a 3 Day Startup program called University of Awesome that you don’t want to miss (it also comes with an open bar for those that are 21+.) On Sunday we have another amazing keynote to start the day followed by more panels and interactive workshops. We wrap things up with a closing keynote and last remarks from the 3DS team. There are even more surprises in store for 2018, so stay tuned!

Why are General Admission tickets more expensive than 3DS alumni tickets?

Our goal for Global Roundup is to run the world’s best early-stage startup conference at a price that early-stage entrepreneurs can afford. Global Roundup speakers come from our network, and offer incredible insight into launching a company, without the hefty speaking fee that drives up other conference ticket costs.

One of the benefits that universities and 3DS alumni receive from being in our network is a discount to the Global Roundup conference. While we’ve heard many times that the conference is worth much more than the ticket price, we’re happy to discuss potential discounts with you or your group.
